Precious and/or semi-precious metals are organic materials that are derived from the earth. Our objects are hand finished using ancient techniques creating the final piece of jewelry.
With the passing of time sterling silver may develop a patina, which is a layer of darkened color that may occur when exposed to air. This is not a product flaw, rather the natural occurrence of time and wear. You can use a treated polishing cloth to easily brighten the metal’s surface to it’s original finished appearance if you desire, or embrace the new unique qualities your jewelry takes on as you wear it over time.
Always store your XENOPHORA objects in a cool, dry, safe place away from extreme heat, steam and humidity.
Jewelry should not be worn in the shower or swimming pool. Minor and light contact with water will not harm your XENOPHORA object but it should not come into contact with any soaps or household chemicals such as detergents, bleaches or chlorine. Do not use toothpaste to polish jewelry; it is an abrasive and will leave soft scratches in the surface of your metal.
Oxidized or darkened finishes must not be polished with cloths as this will wear away the surface area exposing the bright silver underneath. Oxidation may fade away with time or regular wear but may be reapplied.
